This eight-episode Netflix thriller about history is odd.

Given the rapidity with which new content is being released on our streaming platforms, it is not uncommon for a great number of programs to have a brief surge in viewership, only to be subsequently obliterated by the onslaught of current events, which consumes them in an unfair manner. It is for this reason that it is worthwhile to retrieve series that were popular at the time, just a couple of years ago, but that no one remembers anymore. ‘Believe Me’ is an example of this, and it was released on Netflix in the year 2019.

There are a number of subjects that are sometimes softened or treated with disdain, but this series, which is based on real occurrences, tackles them without any restriction. ‘Believe Me’ is not a crime-themed suspense romp that glosses over the grisly details, as is the case with many other thrillers in the genre. Instead, it is a genuine crime drama that isn’t hesitant to dive into the personal tragedies that frequently surround these cases. Kaitlyn Dever, Toni Collette, and Merritt Wever all deliver outstanding performances, bringing the series to a seamless conclusion that should be rewatched without delay.

Why not give something a little bit more serious a shot before you move over to watching The Office or Parks and Rec for the millionth time? If you feel like you need a change of pace, you might want to consider. In the event that you have an interest in history and true crime, you are in luck because there are a great number of shows on Netflix that are based on true stories.
