New Acer console has 11-inch screen

Acer’s screen size surprises as it’s between a tablet and a portable console.

The Nitro Blaze 11’s 10.95-inch screen makes it feel like a laptop without a keyboard. The screen is 50% larger than a Steam Deck, which is already substantial. This monster weighs just over a kilogramme and pushes the limits of a portable console/PC.

The console has AMD Ryzen 8040HS processor, 16GB LPDDR5X TRAM, and up to 2TB NVMe SSD storage to match its luxurious screen. Not the cheapest on the market, it starts at $1,099 and rises with internal storage. It will be available in the second quarter of 2025, according to CES 2025 in Las Vegas.

The console can separate the side controls like a Nintendo Switch and be played upright like a tablet, showing that Acer is aware of these excesses. Acer’s budget Nitro gaming brand debuted the Nitro Blaze 8 and Nitro Blaze 11 at CES 2025 this week. Acer is late to the handheld PC party, with Valve’s Steam Deck launching in 2022 and other manufacturers like Lenovo beginning their second generation with the Lenovo Legion Go S, revealed at CES.

I’ve been hoping for an Acer handheld PC for a while because I like Acer’s hardware. I’ve always liked the Swift laptop line, and the Predator and Nitro gaming brands typically deliver strong performance at reasonable prices. I’m not convinced after seeing Acer’s CES display.

Acer’s Nitro Blaze 8 handheld was announced before CES, but the Blaze 11 was a surprise. Acer’s Blaze 8 (which should be called the Blaze 9 due to its 8.8-inch display) looks like a more traditional gaming handheld, with specs similar to the Lenovo Legion Go and Asus ROG Ally X.
