After Halloween, platforms start preparing for Christmas two months away. Will we see an avalanche of TV movies about snowmen who become smiling hunks and sisters who reunite after inheriting a postcard shop? Yes… and no. Xataka has news for all tastes, so here are 13 well-crafted, non-Christmas proposals (depending on what each person considers typical of these dates).

The legacy of ‘La casa de papel’ has left Netflix striving to replicate its success with another Spanish heist film. Daniel Calparsoro will lead the five-episode miniseries based on real events, starring Miguel Herrán, María Pedraza, and Hovik Keuchkerian. In 1981, three months after the attempted coup d’état, eleven men attempted to rob the Central Bank headquarters in Barcelona. This is the third series in this universe. The Russo brothers sign the Indian spin-off again. It tells the story of how stuntwoman Bunny hires actress Honey and plunges them into a world of espionage and betrayal that they must face years later, when they are apart.

Detective Alex Cross has appeared in thirty James Patterson novels and in several films starring Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry. This series on Prime Video promises to be the most faithful to the original books, introducing us to a homicide detective and forensic psychologist who faces a sadistic serial killer. Meanwhile, a past threat threatens his career and family.

This month, chess fans can hear how IBM convinced world chess champion Gary Kasparov, who had defeated Deep Blue, to play a rematch in 1997. Despite being a psychological thriller, this series won the Grand Prix at Séries Mania 2024. Its action takes place in the late 1970s, but its themes, such as the conflict between human intelligence and creativity and an electronic brain, are still relevant today.

After months of uncertainty and technical and artistic team scares, a new series of ‘Dune‘ might be set in Villeneuve’s universe but set thousands of years before the films. They are important because they mark the beginning of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood, which will later be a major force in the galaxy’s power struggle, and the creation of the Chosen One prophecy, which will be crucial to Paul Atreides’ story.
