The Kings League season is here, and we’ll show you how to watch online. Twelve teams compete for the trophy in this 7-a-side football league with season-changing rules.

Let’s start with the dates of each round of this new Kings League season. Match times will be announced a few days in advance.

The Kings League, founded in 2022, is a Barcelona seven-a-side football league (officially known as Kings League InfoJobs since November 2022 due to sponsorship reasons). To add drama and entertainment, the league uses tie-breaker penalty shootouts, unlimited substitutions, and secret weapons. [1]
The Kings League splits each season into Winter and Summer Splits in an Apertura and Clausura format. Both splits have leagues and playoffs. Twelve teams play eleven matchdays and face each other once in the league. The top eight league teams advance to the playoffs. Each matchday features six forty-minute matches with two twenty-minute halves played consecutively on the same ground.[2][3]
For the inaugural season, players applied and were draughted on December 27, 2022.[4] Before being draughted, top prospects underwent physical and skill testing. Each team can have twelve players: the draft selected ten players, with two spots reserved for guest players. 11th and 12th Players are usually footballers or streamers. The 12th player can change each match day, but the 11th must stay all season.[5][6]
A tie-breaker penalty shootout from the centre of the field, offsides, handballs for throw-ins, unlimited substitutions, yellow cards for a 2-minute exclusion, and red cards for a 5-minute exclusion until a substitute can enter are the unconventional rules.
The ball is in the centre and players start from the backline. Games have two 20-minute halves and “secret weapons” that each team can use once from halftime to the end. The following are secret weapons:
Shoot-out – A penalty involving a midfielder vs. custodian breakaway. The player has five seconds to shoot but can make as many moves as possible between starting the breakaway and shooting. As mentioned, penalty shootouts break ties using this format. This variation originated in the US and was used in the NASL in the 1970s and 1980s and MLS for its first four seasons (1996–1999).
