According to a statement released by the United States Department of State, a spokesperson named Matthew Miller stated that Secretary of State Antony Blinken will go to Israel on Friday as part of a mission to the Middle East.

It was remarkable that the first announcement of the expedition did not include a stop in Israel being included in the itinerary. During his five trips to the region since the beginning of the war, Secretary of State Blinken has made a trip to Israel on each of those occasions.

This visit comes at a time when tensions are rising as a result of Israeli intentions to launch a military assault on the city of Rafah, which is located in the southern part of Gaza.
