The 'Star Wars Outlaws' gameplay

‘Star Wars: Outlaws‘ is one of Ubisoft’s most powerful bets for this year: the sandbox genre , where the French company is an expert thanks to franchises such as ‘ Assassin’s Creed ‘ or ‘ Far Cry ‘, goes hand in hand with a universe that is known for its temporal and spatial breadth , but which in the world of video games has almost always been explored in a linear way and without being carried away by its enormous possibilities.

Ubisoft wants to make it abundantly evident that the universe of ‘Star Wars: Outlaws’ is as expansive as one would expect from a game that is based on the galactic property, and it is ensuring that we are gradually gaining information that has an impact on this particular facet. During the Ubisoft Forward event that took place on Monday, we were given the chance to observe the gameplay of three different scenarios. It is evident that the gaming possibilities of ‘Outlaws‘ are quite visible.

Following the Battle of Hoth, which was the opening event of “The Empire Strikes Back,” the presentation began with a brief introduction that provided a description of the game’s premise. This was a time when the Empire reigned supreme over the galaxy with an iron fist. In this setting, a myriad of criminal syndicates come into existence. These syndicates take advantage of the law of the strongest, which is a system that is in place on a great number of planets around the galaxy, in order to enrich themselves. The blaster is one of the mechanics that has been demonstrated. It is equipped with three different modules that can be utilized: the plasma module, which is utilized to deal damage at a long range; the ion module, which is utilized to disable shields or overload drones; and the stun module, which eliminates normal enemies with a single shot but requires a reload time. However, our companion Nix, a hairy creature that is able to identify the landscape, can obtain weapons or materials from a distance, and bring them to Kay, is our most powerful weapon but also our most powerful companion. In ‘The Relic,’ Kay infiltrates Crimson Dawn territory to recover an artifact that was stolen from the Ashiga Clan. In ‘The Wreck,’ the duo investigates the remains of a High Republic cruiser that contains important information. Finally, in ‘False Flag,’ we get to access one of the most anticipated aspects of the game, which is ship combat. All of this is put into practice in three missions that we have seen in greater detail.

In each of the three instances, we have witnessed a very interesting reproduction of the ‘Star Wars’ universe. The focus of these recreations has been on a character who is not a member of either the Rebels or the Empire, but it is obvious who his primary animosities are focused toward.

UbiSoft’s efforts to provide a universe that exhibits all of the richness of ‘Star Wars’ while at the same time focusing on a very unique tale and character are demonstrated by these three missions that we have been allowed to see. These missions are an excellent illustration of UbiSoft’s work regarding the presentation of diverse mechanics. For once, the mysticism of the Jedi is no longer present, and instead, we are presented with an adventure that is more grounded in reality. This is something that will definitely be appreciated by fans of the more mundane and low-life aspects of the galaxy franchise.
