El Hormiguero' worries

In the first matchup of the week, Broncano prevails over Motos with relative ease.

After the heart-stopping premiere week of ‘La revuelta,’ which surprised everyone by standing up to the previously indestructible ‘El hormiguero’ by Pablo Motos, David Broncano’s program on La 1 has returned from the weekend with a bang. The program has been a huge success. Not only did it hold its own, but it also clearly triumphed, gaining a lead of two and a half points over its competitor.

Complete and utter triumph. In the time slot in which they coincided, which was the time slot in which ‘El hormiguero’ had demonstrated a clear superiority up until this point, ‘La revuelta’ outperformed its competitor by 4.4 points and 596,000 viewers. Overall,

‘La revuelta’ had a share of 19.5% and 2,591,000 viewers, which is the second best figure for the program up to this point. Naturally, it was also the most watched program of the day, and it reached a “golden minute” of almost three million viewers, which is something that “El Hormiguero” has almost always accomplished up until this point.

El Hormiguero, come on! There is no indication that the audience for Motos’ program is experiencing a crisis as a result of this. It is more that, as we mentioned the previous week, Broncano is attracting a new audience to this time slot, rather than stealing it from Motos. Its figures are very consistent, with a 17% share and 2,215,000 viewers. It is possible for ‘El Hormiguero’ to keep its current numbers while still being surpassed by Broncano.

The guests might not be the problem. On the basis of the figures from the previous week, it appeared that Motos outperformed Broncano when he brought a more powerful guest, such as Victoria Federica or Lamine Yamal. Yesterday, however, Edurne was unquestionably more well-known than the actresses Irene Escolar and Elisabet Casanovas, despite the fact that DJ MaRiiO, a very popular YouTuber, was the one who finished the program.

Is it possible that the popularity of the football-related YouTuber among younger viewers is what has caused this peak in audience (despite the fact that he had already visited Broncano on other occasions in ‘La resistencia’), or is there something else that has contributed to this increase?

These are the Marx Brothers’ house. While the history of ‘La revuelta’ is still relatively short, the program that took place yesterday was possibly the most chaotic one. Raúl Cimas, an old acquaintance, was brought in at the eleventh hour to fill the role of a sportsman who had been scheduled to appear as a guest on the program. The sportsman suffered an injury that prevented him from attending the program.

A chaotic surplus of guests arrived at ‘La revuelta’ yesterday. Escolar, Casanovas, and DJ MaRiiO were joined by five players from the Alcobendas rugby team and the singer Sandra Carrasco. This was done either to prevent this from happening again or possibly as a joke that was appropriate to the circumstances.

The formula is one of a kind. There is a possibility that we are looking at a program that does not depend on its guests, which is what makes us believe that Motos is having a lot of trouble trying to get the audience that Broncano has. The chaotic and improvised tone of ‘La revuelta’ is what draws in its viewers. Those who attend the program with the intention of “having fun” are the ones who attend the program. It is the cheeky style and the feeling that literally anything can happen, such as the guests from the previous episode insulting other people at a moment when they were obviously unprepared, the conversation drifting towards Richard Gere, or the interview with three people at the same time, as well as the difficulties in fitting everything into the format.

The mathematics of Motos. The program that Pablo Motos is presenting has a very measured structure, and it cannot fall into improvisations like Broncano does because it is not his style. Additionally, it is dependent on an excessive number of sections, such as the experiments, which require a great deal of preparation and paraphernalia. He continues to announce that he has a good bunch of powerful guests this week, including Ilia Topuria, Miguel Ángel Revilla, and finally, Antonio Banderas and Marta Ribera. His trump card, therefore, remains the power of the guests, which he continues to announce for the moment. Indeed, it is evident that this slot had not been as exciting for a considerable amount of time.
